General office of Suiyuan, Hohhot 2017

The General Office in Hohhot is one of the national cultural heirs in China. It was built in the new community of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia during the Qing Dynasty under the reign of Yongzheng to strengthen the defensive power of the northwestern region. During the Qianlong period, the city, which at that time still bore the name Suiyuan, was officially completed.

The General’s Office covers an area of 15,000 square meters and has an entrance gate with two stone lions on each side. Within the courtyard are the main hall, Wutang, and Gongxie. In addition to the various buildings that can be visited, there are also various exhibitions on the history of the city and the workings of the office.
