City Views Osaka, Japan 2017

Osaka is the prefectural capital of Osaka in the heart of the West Japanese region of Kinki and Kansai. With 2.7 million inhabitants, Osaka is the third largest city in Japan after Tokyo and Yokohama. It is the traditional trading center, one of the most important industrial centers and one of the most important ports in the country. The old city center of Osaka around Shinsaibashi is in the south.

Osaka has some major venues for classical Japanese theater, such as Kabuki Theater, Kyōgen Theater, and National Bunraku Theater. Larger festivals include the Midosuji Parade and the Tenjin Matsuri.

Probably the most famous tourist attraction is Osaka Castle, which is located in the center of the city. If you want to take a look over the city, you can do so from the Ferris wheel on the roof of the shopping mall Hep 5, from the observation tower Tsūtenkak or the Umeda Sky Building. Furthermore, there is also the Universal Studio Japan. The Shitenno-ji is one of the oldest temples in Japan and with the nearby Gokuraku-jodo garden an interesting cultural and natural destination.
