One of Janshui’s attractions is the garden of the Zhu family, an old house with a beautiful garden of the once wealthy Zhu family from the Qing Dynasty. The garden is located in the heart of the old town and is a labyrinth of residential estates, a large garden with several small gardens, an ancestral hall and a pond, where a theater stage on the water as well as pavilions, flowers and trees represent an enchanting landscape ,
The complex was built by Zhu Wei-Qing and his brother in the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) as a private residence and garden and got its name. The complex has a total of 42 courtyards and 214 houses. The stone cliffs and rice fields in the eastern garden and the bamboo and flowers in the western garden show the typical style of a private South Chinese garden. The garden of the Zhu family combines the culture of central China with the local and is one of the outstanding examples of Chinese gardens of high architectural value.
