The Shifen Waterfall is the most famous cascading waterfall in Taiwan. Although not nearly the highest of the island, he is certainly the widest with impressive 40 meters. Because of its horseshoe shape and a big river, it is also called the small Niagara of Taiwan. Nestled in a beautiful wooded mountain landscape, this waterfall often enjoys a bright rainbow on sunny days. His colorful spectacle has also given the waterfall its other nickname ‘Rainbow Pond’.
The Shifen Waterfall is a short walk, along with the Pingxi railway line, from the Shifeng Old Town. In the riverbed of the Shifen waterfall, you can always see interesting holes. At different points along the river creates the uneven flow of water swirls that cause these deep holes.
