The Gold Ecological Park is located in the mountain town Jinguashi in the district Ruifang. Few bus stops away from Jiufen; this area is rich in historical, cultural and natural resources. Among these is the Gold Museum, which provides information on the gold mining industry and an insightful look into the life of a miner with a visit to the Benshan Tunnel.
This park is the first museum park in Taiwan based on integrated ecological foundation concepts. The museum is located in the former offices of Taiwan Metal Mining Corp. The first floor shows the story of the discovery of gold, the Benshan tunnel, old mining equipment, transport systems and a brief introduction to the Japanese prison camp. On the second floor, gold is the main theme, illustrated with gold artifacts and a giant gold clump that holds the world record with 220 kg and 999 purity.
