Originally, the site on which the pavilion stands today was a landfill. The area was cleansed by the municipal administration and turned into a resort. This is in line with the rise of environmental protection in the country.
Liuqiu’s landfill sites were closed down, and cleaning and restoration work carried out. This has brought the scenery of the shore in Liuqiu sustainably and positively changed and aligned with the particular landscape of the island. In a few places along the coast, one can still see remains of old landfill sites, but the clean-up work is mostly completed, and the coast of Liuqiu is now open to visitors.
