The Wangzailiao Sandbank is located in the Qigu Lagoon, somehow isolated and remote in the sea. This long and narrow sandbank is a natural barrier in the middle of the Qigu Inland. It originated from the accumulation of mud that was carried by the rivers of West Taiwan through the streams of the Taiwan Strait for many years and gradually emerged above the water.
Today, the Sandbank is a nature reserve, which visitors can enter only on designated paths and offers various bird species resting and breeding grounds. The strong wind keeps the vegetation of Australian pines and shrubs small.
