The small temple is located directly on the pier on the south side of the Sun Moon Lake and is a popular excursion destination. You can reach both by boat, as well as by car to the temple.
Like the Xuanzang Temple, it is dedicated to the monk Xuanzang, who spent 20 years of his life on extended journeys. Inside the temple, you will find an altar for the monk as well as maps of his travels and hiking routes.
Previously its relics, which had been returned from Japan to Taiwan, were placed here. Today one can examine these in the Xuanzang Temple, which can be visited via a hiking trail through the forest uphill from here.
