Gaomei Feuchtgebiet - Gaomei Wetlands

Gaomei Wetlands, Taichung 2017

The Gaomei Wetland area is located in Dajia, Taichung and is one of the best-known and best-preserved wetlands in Taiwan. Originally known as Gaomi in the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed Gaomei during the Japanese colonial period. The Gaomei Wetland area covers over 300 hectares, but only 1/10 of the entire Dadu River wetland area. It is the unique mixture of mud and sand, which provides a distinct organism of animals and plants such as birds, fish, crabs and invertebrates a home.

The Gaomei Wetland area is excellent for bird watching. Migratory birds can be seen here at different seasons. The stunning scenery during the sunset is a must when you visit Taichung.
