The Széchenyi Spa is a health resort in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The complex is located in the City Park. Due to its size, the bath is the largest of its kind in Europe. It was named after the statesman Count István Széchenyi.
The Széchenyi Spa had been damaged by the war only to 20 percent; The St. Stephen’s well had remained completely intact. After the debris clearing had begun on 23 January 1945, the outdoor pool could be reopened on 20 May, and the thermal baths for men and the two public baths could be put into operation by the end of July.
