The Market Hall at Rakoczi Square in the 8th district was built as the second market hall in Budapest, in 1894 according to the plans of István Rozinay and Pál Klunzinger. After a fire damage 1988, the building was rebuilt and reopened in 1991.
The small market hall at Rakoczi Square is one of the secret tips of the Budapest. There is hardly a language other than Hungarian.
In the market halls a piece of Hungarian cultural history is reflected, so at least the Great Market Hall should be visited. Not for nothing, it has already received several awards with the title ‘Europe’s most beautiful market building’.
