Hanoi is the capital, and Ho Chi Minh is the largest city in Vietnam. After reorganizing the administrative boundaries in 2008, with the entire province of Ha Tay and parts of other provinces of Hanoi, the city has 6,448,837 inhabitants. Hanoi is the oldest existing capital of Southeast Asia. The founding year is the Citadel Thang Long 1010.
One of the sights that you should visit in Hanoi is, without a doubt, the Literatur Temple of Van Mieu, a parade example of the Vietnamese architecture of the 11th century.
In the center of the city is the St. Joseph’s Cathedral as well as the Hoan Kiem Lake. The old quarter – the Old Quarter – is one of the liveliest neighborhoods in the city. There are narrow alleyways, on which all sorts of goods are displayed. In the 13th century, the streets of the neighborhood were divided and assigned to a craft characteristic of the street.
