The Khao San Road or Kao Sarn Road is a 400-meter-long street in Bangkok Banglamphu. The name Khao San Road means ‘Road of Peeled Rice’ and is the backpacker and party mile in Bangkok par excellence.
The small street is synonymous with the entire tourist district, which is around it. Here, countless shops and stalls have been established, which offer products for backpackers. Also, the Khao San Road is known for its many cheap and mid-priced accommodation and comfort levels.
From the Khao San Road, lanes lead to other bars and hotels. A parallel road, Soi Rambuttri, is also blocked for regular car traffic. A few meters away is a pedestrian zone, which is, however, less populated. The quieter streets are reminiscent of Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand.
