Wat Khao Chedi

Wat Khao Chedi, Koh Samui 2010

A secret tip on Koh Samui is the Khao Chedi on a hill at Laem Sor, the southernmost tip of the island. The temple is worth not only because of the beautiful view of the surrounding coconut plantations, on vast areas of the south coast of Koh Samui, on the outlying islands and the mainland, but also because of its numerous Buddha statues.

In the center of the Srivijaya-style temple complex is a golden, lying Buddha with a white Chedi. The base of the Chedi is surrounded by a variety of small, golden Buddha statues, the ensemble itself by a group of larger Buddha statues.
