Pura Ulun Danu Bratan or Pura Bratan is a significant water temple on Bali dedicated to Shiva as a creator. Inside the temple, there are also Buddha statues.
The temple complex is located in the mountains at 1200 m at Bratan Lake. The lake is a volcano lake near Bedugul, whose water is considered sacred. The temple was built in 1663 and is used for sacrificial ceremonies for the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu, which is a manifestation of the wife Parvati of Shiva. Lake Bratan is a major source of irrigation in central Bali.
